Log Cabin Day

June 28 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Donation
Join the Port Huron Museums for Log Cabin Day 2026!

We are joining many other historical sites in recognizing Log Cabin Day!

The Kammer Cabin located on the grounds of the Carnegie Museum is typically only open during our Pioneer Day school programs but we will have it open to the public for FREE on June 28, 2026 from 11am-3pm.

Built in the 1850s by the Kammer family, the cabin is a living history exhibit. It was originally located in Casco Township, Michigan and relocated to the museum grounds in 1981. The cabin was slated to be torn down by property owners at it’s original site. During the beginning of demolition, multiple layers of siding were removed and the original cabin was discovered. The property owners realized what a historical treasure they had on their hands- and offered the cabin to the Port Huron Museums. The museum happily accepted the offer, and the Kammer Cabin is now a permanent fixture on the grounds of the Carnegie Museum!

Don’t miss this exclusive look into our local history!

*Tickets NOT required but donations are greatly appreciated and help us to preserve, maintain, and share the Kammer Cabin with the community!
