By 1860, the Grand Trunk Railroad ran between the house and the fort. Not long after, the Edisons moved out and the house later burned. By the 1880s, the railroad track lay over the house site, covering its secrets until archeologists uncovered evidence of the Edison’s stay there. From evidence unearthed by archeologists, we know a little more about the basement workshop in which young Thomas Alva Edison experimented.
