Volunteer Opportunities

Did you know that the Port Huron Museum began as an all-volunteer organization that was formed to save the historic Carnegie Library? When the Port Huron City Library system merged with the St. Clair County Library in 1967, a movement began to use the vacant building as a cultural center.

Volunteer

The Port Huron Museum was founded in 1968 by people interested in preserving and promoting Port Huron’s rich history. Since then, hundreds of volunteers have contributed to the Museum’s success.

You, too, can help maintain a significant part of Port Huron’s history by becoming part of our volunteer crew and finding:

A Sense of Accomplishment

As a non-profit organization, the Museum depends on its volunteers to accomplish many of its short-term and long-term goals.  Annually, museum volunteers contribute thousands of hours. Thanks to this dedication and pride, we’ve become a renowned institution in the Blue Water Area.

A Sense of Community

As a Port Huron Museum volunteer, you will be able to work with others who share your interest in preserving the area’s culture and heritage. Through a variety of volunteer activities, you will experience a sense of camaraderie and community spirit that has thrived in this community and in the Museum for many years. Get involved in a volunteer activity at the Museum that best fits your individual interests, skills, and available time, such as:

  • Administration

  • Visitor Services

  • Tour Guides

  • Public Programs

  • Museum Store/Admissions

  • Collections/Research

  • Maintenance
